If you’re a football fan, Lambeau Field is one of those places you just have to visit. Even if you’re only mildly interested in sports, this stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin, feels like stepping into football history. I was lucky enough to contribute to that history in my own small way when my painting of a classic Packers sweep play against the Rams became part of the remodel of the suites area back in July 2017
This piece, about 5 feet by 8 feet, acrylic on stretched canvas, now lives among eight others I created for the suite and club levels of Lambeau Field. I sometimes wish the art could be displayed more publicly for the die-hard fans who fill the stands every game day, but knowing it’s part of the Packers’ is still fun for me
The Magic of Lambeau Field
Lambeau Field is unlike any other stadium I’ve ever visited. It’s retro, welcoming, and buzzing with football energy. Green Bay itself feels like a town that lives and breathes Packers football. It ids everywhere you look. It’s in the restaurants, bars, even the local businesses that you see the love for the game.
When you step inside the stadium, it’s not just the game you experience. The tours let you explore the art and history that it in the venue. My work hanging there is more than a painting, it’s part of a story. They say art isn’t about what you see but what it makes others feel. Watching fans discover the art reminds me of that every time.
Art, Sports, and Finding Yourself
Football, like art, has a way of pulling you in, making you lose track of time, and even yourself. There’s something poetic about the lines of a football play. You see it in the sweep’s rhythm and flow on the field. I tried to capture that same energy and movement in my painting.
This isn’t just about the Packers, though. It’s about the universal love of the game, the art of sports, and the stories we tell through painting the players in every pass, tackle, and painted line.
Why You Should Visit
If you haven’t been to Lambeau, go. The tours are worth it, the fans are incredible, and the stadium is as interesting as it is legendary. You might even stumble across my work and get a glimpse of the art that helps tell the Packers’ story.
